Finding his way back in the spotlight, Jidenna, surprises us with a fresh new sound in his newly released song “a little bit more.” Allowing the Caribbean beats and the tropical drums to flow through my ears, I felt like it was truly summer again. Although the 100-degree weather I’m in never failed to let me forget. This song is so fun and energetic and having already reached over a million views in just its firsts days, I definitely think we’ll be hearing a lot more from this Nigerian-American artist.

Jidenna first sent shockwaves through the radio with his hit single “Classic Man” in 2015. That catchy chorus had just about everyone rehearsing the line “I’m a classic man…”. I have to admit; I was definitely one of them. But I also thought to myself, “how classic is this man actually?” We can see in the “classic man” music video how he wears this clean-cut hairstyle and a vintage suit in every scene to portray the role of a classic man. I was convinced that it was just a made-up character, like the ones you see in TV shows. But it turns out this “Classic Man” is indeed a classy man. As he confessed, to Billboard.com, the reasons for his style, I started to think this artist was one of the cooler ones. Jidenna explains that he wanted his style to “invoke the Jim Crow era” and how each song would represent the “the adventures of a classic man.” His vintage style continues in music videos such as “long live the chief,” “knickers,” and most recent “a little bit,” and the adventures continue right along with him. These so-call ‘adventures’ are a great way to explain the change in vibes he alludes with each song, having one strongly influenced by Drake and the next Kendrick Lamar. 

Jidenna definitely likes to mix up his music style, but the new one resonances with me the most. This paradise feel is so fitting for him. I hope to hear more of this style in his upcoming album The Eephus. But if we continue to hear variation in his music style, we know there’s one thing we can always rely on—his wardrobe style. We can always count on this Classic Man to upstage us in appearance. I think I could definitely benefit from some fashion tips from this one.

 I know the title must have you a lil baffled but no i'm not talking about fast women. lol What i am mentioning or should I say who i'm referring to is an English born trap producer named HUCCI. Just like a contract killer his wrath is felt by those he encounters but you cannot find much info about the dj. One thing is for sure his Internet following is immense and he seems to like being the unknown. Hucci uses tons of hip hop samples and vocals to create his airy trap sound. HUCCI varies his tempos so you don't get exhausted from fast paced sounds of a lot of trap producers. the track i'm lovin right now is called “Hitta” which uses r&b and hip hop vocals to lace an 808 heavy track. HUCCI is not afraid to mix up samples mid-song and gracefully navigates from sample to sample. HUCCI’S following patiently wait for internet  drops because there’s not much else to go on. It's easy to see that he has an immense, hip hop love. It flows over most of his tracks.The track entitled ‘PERFECT STORM” is a dope cut that uses a Micheal Jackson vocal to lead the song and I honestly had never before paid that much attention to Mj’s lyrics but the track forced them onto me which was cool to say the least. Hip Hop/Rapper Murs a True Storyteller

I don’t know why a hip hop/rapper like Murs is not as popular as some of these so called rappers who wins all the music awards. He is a true storyteller. His name is an acronym he made up which means, "Making the Universe Recognize and Submit" or "Making Underground Raw Shit." Yes he is doing just that. He is an artist who is rapping about what’s happening around him. I must say his raps are dope. From his debut album in 1997 “F'Real” to his latest album in 2012 “Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl”, Murs has narrated what he has to say. This alternative hip hop/rapper from Mid-City, Los Angeles California has been around since 1996. Murs has been linked with, Living Legends, 3 Melancholy Gypsys, Felt, The Invincibles, 9th Wonder, Machina Muerte. Some of my favorites songs are "Remember 2 Forget", “Badman”, “The Break Up”, “Yesterday & Today”, “God's Work”, “Everything”and “First Love”. Murs is underrated and it’s a shame. Madlib

Madlib is an artist that blends jazz, funk & hip hop music with his beats and makes incredible music. Madlib’s giving name is Otis Jackson Jr. Madlib was born in Oxnard California and is living in Los Angeles. This 40 year old DJ, multi-instrumentalist, MC, and music producer has incredible amount of talent. I truly enjoy the way he takes his beats and mixes it into a hip hop, jazz and funk tunes. Madlib is has collaborated with numerous hip hop artists, including The Alkaholiks, Mos Def, De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, Talib Kweli, A.G. , Madvillain, and the late J Dilla. Madlib has opened my eyes to a lot of different music and the way it is done. Madlib has a single out called“Shame” it is a real serious song. Madlib’s music just makes me feel elated. Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland was born Kelendria Trene Rowland on February 11, 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of seven Kelly’s mother left her father because he was an abusive alcoholic. When Kelly was eight, Kelly and her mother relocated to Houston, where she joined a rapping and dancing group with Beyonce` Knowles and LaTavis Roberson. The name of the group was called Girl’s Tyme; they performed on the television show Star Search the biggest talent show at the time and lost the competition. In 1993 the group changed their name to Destiny’s Child. Destiny’s Child was very successful between 1999 and 2002; the group broke up to focus on their solo careers. In 2002 Kelly and Nelly one of my all-time favorite male artist team up on the single “Dilemma” this is still one of my favorite songs. Kelly won a Grammy for Best Rap/Song Collaboration and Billboard Award in 2003. Kelly’s debut solo album Simply Deep had a mixture of alternative-R&B and rock music, Brandy and Solange Knowles sung background vocals. The songs that are my favorites from this album are “Can’t Nobody”, “Beyond Imagination”, “Every Time Walk Out That Door”, “Heaven”, “Stole” and “Dilemma. In 2007 Kelly came out with Ms. Kelly album with the hit single “Like This” featuring Eve and “Work” I really like “Work”. My favorite songs on the Ms. Kelly album are “Ghetto” (featuring Snoop Dogg)”, “Every Thought is You”, “Like This”, “Flashback”, The Show (featuring Tank)” and “Come Back”. The Ms. Kelly album should have been released in the United States first I think it would have been more successful. In 2009 Kelly went in a different direction, she left her manager Matthew Knowles and Columbia Records. Kelly did house collaboration with French DJ David Guetta’s “When Love Takes Over” in which was the lead single for Davis Guetta’s One Love album in 2009. This song is high energy, I like it Kelly rocks! Kelly recorded the theme song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup “Everywhere You Go” with international artists called Rhythm of South Africa United. Kelly did her thing on the Here I Am album; my favorite songs are “Turn It Up”, “Im dat chick”, “Feelin Me Right Now (featuring Rico Love)” and “Lay It On Me”. Kelly is nominated for a 2012 Grammy for “Motivation” (featuring Lil’ Wayne)” in which Rico Love wrote. Kelly Rowland I my opinion will be around for quite some time. Her willingness to work with artists of all genres of music keeps Kelly Rowland fresh. I hope she wins the Grammy, she deserves it.

Beastie Boys

When the Beastie Boys started in 1979 they were a hardcore punk band. John Berry the original guitarist suggested the name “Beastie Boys”. The letters B.E.A.S.T.I.E. stands for “Boys Entering Anarchistic State Towards Internal Excellence”. The Beastie Boys performed their first Hip Hop track “Cocky Puss” in 1983, with “Cocky Puss“ success they switched from hardcore punk to rap. The Beastie Boys recorded “Licensed to Ill” in 1986. I like this album, especially the songs “Fight For Your Right (To Party), “No Sleep Till Brooklyn”, “Paul Revere“, & “Brass Monkey”. Rolling Stone  magazine famous headline was, “Three Idiots Create a Masterpiece”. This album was the best selling rap album of the 1980s and was the first album to go No. 1 on Billboard album chart where it stayed for five weeks. On the Urban album chart it reached No. 2. Beastie Boys first single from this album “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)” reached No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100. There was controversy with the Licensed to Ill tour. There were female members dancing in cages a giant motorized inflatable penis, lawsuits and arrests. The Beastie Boys put out  several more albums “Paul’s Boutique and Check Your Head” in 1992, This album had funk and jazz songs “Lighten Up” and Something’s Got to Give” as well as hardcore punk song “Time for Livin”. In 1994 they released III Communition, the album debut No. 1 on Billboard Top 200 & No. 2 on R&B/hip hop album chart. “Sabotage” was a hit on the modern rock charts. ”Hello Nasty” was released on July 14, 1998 this album went straight to No. 1 in the US, the Uk, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Sweden. The Beastie Boys have a new album out called “Hot Sauce Committee Part Two” I like this album. The song Funky Donky reminds me of an old Parliament tune. Nas is featured on the song “Too Many Rappers”. I like “Nonstop Disco Powerpack” song it has that old school rap sound.  I think the Beasties Boy’s may have another hit album.
