Call it the Trumpapocalypse.
From August 25 to September 3, Hurricane Harvey ripped through Texas, Louisiana, Belize, Nicaragua, and Honduras, causing 77 deaths and leaving thousands displaced in its wake.
September 16 to October 3-Hurricane Maria became known as the worst natural disaster on record in Dominica, causing catastrophic damage and a major humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico; estimated death toll: 90.
On the night of October 1, a lone gunman opened fire from his Mandalay Bay hotel room after knocking out the windows and rained down a hail of bullets on revelers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas strip, leaving 58 people dead and 489 injured.
Last week, a series of wildfires burning across the northern California, raging throughout Napa, Lake, Sonoma, Mendocino, Butte and Solano counties, destroyed homes and property and killed 32 people; hundreds are reported missing.

With such violent endings and beginnings of summer and fall, it seems like America barely had time to recover from one large-scale tragedy when another struck. It is safe to say that we all suffered from PTSD in one form or another since Donald Trump was elected U.S. president number 45 almost a year ago.
Enough is enough, said Marshall Mathers, a.k.a., Eminem, a white rapper from Detroit. On Oct. 11, the Grammy-winning hip hop artist unleashed his fury on the right wing Donald Trump administration via a cypher which made its televised debut at the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards. https://www.bet.com/video/hiphopawards/2017/cyphers/eminem-vs-Donald-Trump-hha17.html.
“It’s the calm before the storm right here,” Eminem freestyles, while strolling through an underground parking garage as a group of young black men look on. “Wait, how was I gonna start this off? I forgot. Oh yeah. That’s an awfully hot coffee pot, should I drop it on Donald Trump? Probably not, but that’s all I got, ‘til I come up with a solid (expletive).”
Dressed in a basic black hoodie and gold chain, Eminem takes a few steps and a deep breath and then delivers the second blow.
“I got a plan and now I gotta hatch it like a damn Apache with a tomahawk, Ima walk inside a mosque on Ramadan and say a prayer that every time that (expletive) talks, aggh! !! Ima stop. But we better give Obama props cause what we got in office now’s a kamikaze that will probably cause a nuclear holocaust and while the drama pops and he waits for shit to quiet down, he’ll just gas his plane up and fly around till the bombing stops...”
Eminem, who achieved mainstream popularity via the Dr. Dre and Aftermath Entertainment produced “Slim Shady” LP in 1999, is no stranger to controversy. Several years back, he came under fire for perceived homophobic and misogynistic lyrics and redeemed himself via duet with Elton John on the televised 43rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Currently, Eminem is rumored to have a host of Trump supporters as fans, but he and his alter ego, Slim Shady, left no strings untied during his rant and made it clear who’s side they are on.
“The fact we’re not afraid of Trump, F— walkin’ on eggshells, I came to stomp, That’s why he keeps screamin’ ‘Drain the swamp’, ‘Cause he’s in quicksand, It’s like we take a step forward, then backwards, But this is his form of distraction, plus, he gets an enormous reaction when he attacks the NFL so we focus on that instead of talking Puerto Rico or gun reform for Nevada; All these horrible tragedies and he’s bored and would rather cause a Twitter storm with the Packers; then says he wants to lower our taxes; Then who’s gonna pay for his extravagant trips back and forth with his fam to his golf resorts and his mansions? Same s— that he tormented Hillary for and he slandered, then does it more from his endorsement of Bannon, Support for the Klansmen….”
Following the BET HIP Hop Awards, the Eminem anti-Trump cypher became the number one trending video on YouTube was the subject of more than two million tweets; it was also the subject of morning talk shows on CNN, ABC and other major networks. Eminem’s contemporaries tweeted their reactions, the most vivid coming from Snoop Dogg via video: “Detroit! Stand up! Eminem! Real Muthaf_____ nigga!”
Whether you love it or you hate it, in this writer’s opinion, Eminem should be commended because at least he took a stand. Whether you thought his verse was dope or whack, at least he said something. At press time, Trump, aka Agent Orange, has not responded on his favorite platform, the Twittosphere.
Eminem is not the only pop culture artist taking shots at the Trump administration. Corruption is everywhere. Have a look around. Where can you not see any corruption? Nothing is pure anymore, not even the air. We are constantly being forced to choose the lesser of two evils, and some of us don't even question our choices. We are a lazy generation, and machines do the majority of the work for us. We no longer depend on the natural cycle of the seasons for our needs, instead we violate the cycle of life by requesting what we want whenever we want. The world is off balance, and we continue to push the tilt. The root of the problem is at the top of the pyramid. That is where the corruption is most rampant. The decisions and delinquency of those at the top trickles down and effects those at the bottom - who get hit the hardest. This is the layer cake. Inspired by a fantastic digital new age riddim by Dubmatix, I wrote this song to remind people of where they are, what they are doing; and especially to ask themselves if they are aware of what is going on. Sitting
here on this cool Monday morning on March 28th
thinking, how this month flew by. Listening to StarRo’s music,
looking around my house wanting to get up and start the spring
cleaning ritual my mother instilled in me at an early age. StarRo is
a Japanese music mixologist, Guitarist, Keyboardist, Producer based
out of Los Angeles. What I like about his music, it has that hint of
his Japanese heritage in it. His music is considered downtempo
influenced by Straight-ahead jazz, Brazilian, Folk, Acoustic, Soul
and Hip Hop. There is one female artist he features on his song
“Can't Get You Out Of My Mind” by the name of Alcordo she can
sing. StarRo’s mixes are unique and very chill. You can listen to
them while you are working or just chilling. Check out StarRo on

Oddisee

I rarely
find rap music that I can stand listening to, the stuff they play on
the On-Air stations and the mainstream is awful. As I was sitting
here listening to Oddisee’s song “Belong To The World”, I
thought he has real talent. I went on to listen to more of his songs
I became a fan. This rapper producer born in Washington, D.C’s.
grew up in Prince George's County, Maryland has been rapping and
making beats since 1999. From his debut album 101 in 2008 to his
latest album The Good Fight Oddisee continues to grow. He is
absolutely incredible. The lyrical depth, complexity, soul, and
beauty of his latest album is amazing. Oddisee continues to stay
fresh producing great beats and strong lyrical content. He is a rare
gem in the world hip hop these days. In my opinion, The Good Fight is
his best work to date. It took me a couple of times listening to The
Good Fight to really appreciate the true beauty of this album, it
became hypnotizing. It is lyrically powerful and thoughtful, the
beats keep your head nodding all the way through. Here are some songs
that are my favorites by Oddisee, “Belong To The World”, “Own
Appeal”, “Back of My Mind”, "The Goings On", “Caprice
Down”, “Song For That”, “That's Love”, “Meant It When I
Said It”, “Contradiction’s Maze” and “Streets Won't Let Me
Chill”. I recommend this talented artist to all that are not really
into hip hop music. Oddisee will pleasantly surprise you. Don’t

Welcome back to Streetwise Radio! Holiday season is here again. Time to get together with friends and fam and turn up a lil bit.For those of you who listen to the station you may have heard of the trio of dj/producers called YELLOW CLAW.The group consitsts of Bizzey,Jim Aasgier,and Nizzle.The amsterdam based group is blazing a trail on the trap music scene with hit singles like “love me till it hurts” and “shotgun” using high paced beats and melodic vocals. Yellow claw burst onto the scene in 2010 after hosting and founding The Yellow Claw Thursday nite party at a popular club in Amsterdam. By 2012 they had a few hit singles and became regulars at many dutch festivals ( dirty dutch festival, solarfest). The group successfully blend a multitude of genres onto one track like the track “thunder” which is a masterful blend. After bouncing around a few labels Yellow Claw has chosen the independentroute and is on tour now in Europe. What's amazing to me about the trap music movement is the collaborative nature of it which reminds me of the beginning of hip hop. The beauty of collectivism at its best. Yellow Claw has that upbeat can't stop partying feel that will be sure to keep you up and going all nite. I couldn't imagine being at one of their shows because i would need a change of clothes from the danceathon that would ensue. The Tall Black Guy
DJ Michael Ealey ask me if
I heard of the Tall Black Guy. I said no but the name is cool. When I
listened to his “Mix #1” and “Mix #2” I was hooked and became
an instant fan. I like the groove. You can hear Michael Jackson’s
“Thriller” laugh in it. The artist he has rapping on it, is
spitting serious knowledge about the Motor City. His “Mix #2” is
also amazing, it’s so smooth.
Terrel Wallace (aka Tall
Black Guy) hails from Detroit, Michigan. His music is Jazz, Hip Hop,
Funk, Neo-Soul and Motown all mixed into one beautiful sound. Tall
Black Guy’s mixes and music transcends several categories in music.
It doesn’t matter if you listen to Hip Hop, Jazz, Smooth Jazz,
Neo-Soul, Funk, Trap and Dub you hear all of it in his music. I have
to say, I can groove to his music all day, playing in the background.

Deep C
Don’t get it
twisted I’m not writing about the gang Deep C out of Richmond California. I’m
writing about this 30 something California rapper who grew up in East L.A. Deep
C had the music bug in is blood at a young age. Deep C’s father was the leader
of the 1970’s funk band Edwin Star and the Dynamic Concepts. Deep C grew up
listening to some of the original heavy hitters of rap like NWA, Public Enemy,
Run DMC, Tupac, Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and Curtis Blow. Growing up
in East L.A. Deep C saw a lot of life that was bad and his music reflects his
experiences. His song “Genetikz” the title of his album
is a very confident and inspiring song. These are the songs from this album
that are going on my playlist “4”, “Sun And Moon Featuring: Camille White” and
“Genetikz”. Deep C is based in the Bay Area of Northern California now. He is a
true lyricist that tells a story in his songs. Tune into Streetwise Radio and

Soul Square
These hip
hop dudes from France are in my opinion are better than some of the
mainstream hip hop artists. Arshitect, Guan Jay & PermOne got
together in 2005 at first they called themselves Drum Brothers but
they settled on Soul Square. Soul Square released their album
entitled “Live & Uncut” in 2010. I really like this album
these dudes it is a combination of jazz, soul and funk. Some of my
favorite songs are “Love Break”, “Change”, “Can't We (Just
Chill)”, “Living the Dream“ “Flesh Air” and “Turn This
Party Out”. We need more hip-hop like this something with

Ryan Leslie
There are a
lot of hip hop and rap artists out there that are positive and underrated. Ryan
Leslie happens to be one of them. My son introduced me to him a couple of years
ago. I enjoy his music because no matter whether he’s singing or rapping, he has a
message in his lyrics that you can relate too. Born in Washington, D.C. and
raised in Stockton California Ryan Leslie is multi-talented and intelligent. He
received a 1600 on his SAT score and graduated from Harvard at the age of 19.
Ryan Leslie sings, raps, write songs, produces records, arranges music, plays
the guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and trumpet. Ryan’s debuted in 2007 with his
single "Diamond Girl" and he just keeps put out fantastic music. Ryan
Leslie has been doing his thing since the age 14. He was tutoring kids and
traveling as a musical ambassador. Ryan Leslie is the whole package, it amazes
me how underrated he is. Some of my favorite songs are "Diamond
Girl", "Addiction", “Pleaze Pleaze Pleaze”, "How It Was
Supposed to Be", “Glory” and "Maybachs and Diamonds". Tune into

Public Enemy Most of My Heroes Still Don’t Appear on No Stamp
Public Enemy in past has
been known for their controversy’s. Well they’re back! Public
Enemy released an album called “Most of My Heroes Still Don’t
Appear on No Stamp” in July 2012. The opening track “Run Til It’s
Dark”, is characteristic Public Enemy sound. I think the four most
important songs on this album are “Get Up Stand Up”, “WTF”,
“Catch the Thrown”, and “Run Til It’s Dark”. I have been
listening to Public Enemy since the late 80s. I think they are still
the best rap group ever. These so called rappers now days need to
take note and rap about the real truth.
Public Enemy is from Long
Island, New York. Public Enemy came on the scene in 1987, with their
debut album “Yo! Bum Rush the Show”. In 1988 the released “It
Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back”, with their two hit
singles "Don't Believe the Hype" and "Black Steel in
the Hour of Chaos". After twenty five years Public Enemy is
still rapping about what’s going on in the world. Public Enemy is
still doing their thing bringing the world the truth through their
music. My favorite songs are, “Run Til Its Dark”, “Get Up Stand
Up (featuring Brother Ali)”, “Most of My Heroes Still Don’t
Appear on No Stamp (featuring Z-Trip)”, “I Shall Not Be Moved”,
“Get It In (featuring Bumpy Knuckles)”, “WTF” and “Truth
Decay”. Public Enemy has the second album due out sometime in
September, The Evil Empire of Everything. It is supposed to be the
album that talks to “Most of My Heroes Still Don’t Appear on No
Stamp”. Public Enemy is the real deal of hip hop.

to Public Enemy you need to they are rapping some real truth. A lot
of critics think Public Enemy is racist and very militant. I say to

Tasha’s World
DJ Michael Ealey has
discovered another under-rated artist that I have not heard of, Tasha’s World. It is no wonder I have not heard of Tasha’s World,
because she gets played over in Europe. Tasha’s World is her stage
name, her name is Natascha Slagstand. Someone asked her in an
interview, how she came up with the name Tasha’s World. She
explained that her music is about the things that keep her busy, in
her own world. She was born in 1974 in Rotterdam, Netherlands with a
Surinamese background. This hip hop, neo soul and jazz singer always
get compared to Erykah Badu and she does not like it. I don’t blame
her. I think she has a better her voice with more versatility and she
is easier to listen then Erykah’s. Tasha’s World debut album came
out in 2003 titled “Tasha’s World”. In 2005 Tasha’s World
came out with her second album “World Domination” My favorite
songs from both of these albums are, “Nothing really matters”,
“All that's on my mind”, "Glowing Growing”, "Jah
Bless", “Down & Around”, “Black Panther”, “Breakfast
London Style”, “Fed up”, “Home Alone”, “Tasha’s World”
and “Corny Love Song”. The lyrics in these songs are so relevant
to what’s going on in the lives of women. Tasha’s World is very
soulful!! She is another songstress for neo soul music who is

Akua Naru
What can I say about Akua
Naru amazing, great, marvelous, awesome, original a pure genius? Akua
Naru is a Hip Hop/Rap artist her music has a jazzy sound that you can
listen to all day. Akua Naru is from New Haven, Connecticut, but now
resides in Cologne, Germany. I like every song I have listened to
while writing this. This is real Hip Hop music it is so fresh and
smooth. Here are some of my favorites from her debut album “The
Journey Aflame”, “The Backflip”, "The Block", “The
World Is Listening”, “Tales Of Men feat. African Footprint”,
“The Jones Feat. Mic Donet” and “Find Yourself”. Akua Naru
takes her experiences in her life travels and brings it to her music
for the world to hear. The lyrics in her songs are positive and
inspiring. Streetwise Radio DJ Michael Ealey suggested that I listen
to Akua Naru because he is playing one of her songs “The Blackflip”
on Streetwise Radio Big Hop. I am so glad he suggested it, this young
lady is awesome. I am a fan for life. If you have not heard of Akua

Rapper Ice Meez Song (Occupy)
The Occupy Movement
started in September 17, 2011 in Zuccotti Park, located in New York
City's Wall Street financial district. Adbusters a Canadian activist
group started the protest. This sparked an around the world Occupy
Movement protests. The 99 percent’s main issues are social and
economic inequality, greed, corruption and the undue influence of
corporations on government; especially the financial services sector.
Occupy Movement is also protesting how the growing income inequality
and wealth distribution in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the
rest of the 99 percent of the population. This underground rapper
from Fairfield California, by the name of Ice Meez has a song out
called “Occupy”. Ice Meez song Occupy features Young Gully, Moe
Green, P-Child, they are speaking the truth about the Occupy Movement
that is going on. I’m so feeling this song. This should be the
Occupy Movements anthem. This song is saying everything the Occupy
Movement is protesting. I think this song should be played on the
on-air stations, because it is something positive that people need to
hear. Since it is not, our Internet radio station Streetwise Radio
will be playing the Occupy Anthem. I want to give mad props to the
Ice Meez, Young Gully, Moe Green and P-Child. Thanks for the message.

Heavy D May 24. 1967-November 8, 2011
The world has lost a talented rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor. Dwight Arrington Myers better known as Heavy D passed away on Tuesday November 8, 2011 he collapsed after returning home from shopping. The coroner’s report ruled his death was inconclusive. Heavy D was born in Mandeville Jamaica, but was raised in Mount Vernon, New York. I was saddened to hear of Heavy D’s passing. I remember when Heavy D & the Boyz came on to the music scene in the 80’s. The songs “Overweight Lover In The House”, “Girls They Love Me” were the songs that put heavy men on the map. Heavy D was not only a rapper he was also a songwriter, he wrote the theme song for the television show “In Living Color” and “Madtv. Heavy D also rapped on Michael and Janet Jacksons singles “Jam” and “Alright”. Heavy D was also a producer and has worked with and helped develop Mary J Blige he also helped Sean “Diddy” Combs. Heavy D even collaborated with Blues legend B.B. King on his “Wild Deuces” album rapping on the song “Keep It Coming”. I like Heavy D’s songs “Nuttin But Love”, and “Now That We Found Love” are still favorites of mine. I watched Heavy D performance on the 2011 BET Hip Hop Music Awards in October; I never imagine that it would be his last performance. Heavy D looked health he was singing, dancing and had the crowd on their feet. R.I.P. Heavy D you will be missed.

Sean John Combs was born in Harlem New York November 4, 1969, son of Janice and Melvin Earl Combs. He grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. When Combs was a child, his father, aged 33, was an associate of Frank Lucas (The New York drug lord), who was shot to death in his car at a Manhattan park after attending a party. Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnes both stated they were close to Melvin Combs. Sean Combs played football at Mount Saint Michael Academy; in 1986 his team won the division title Sean Combs graduated in 1987. Sean Combs got his nickname “Puff” from his father, because he would “huff and puff” when he was angry.
While attending Howard University in Washington DC he was good at marketing and a party promoter. He dropped out of school and worked full time at Uptown records. He had a hand in developing Jodeci and signing and producing Mary J. Blige. Bad Boy Records was established in in 1993, after being fired from Uptown Records. Puffy Daddy took two artists with him, The Notorius Big B.I.G. and Craig Mack when he started Bad Boy Records. That’s all he needed he blew up. After that he was signing artist like Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, Father MC, 112 and Total, and others. That’s when; The Hitmen an in house production team was formed.
In 1991 as a concert promoter and producer, he went by the name of Puff Daddy. Puff Daddy has had his challenges with the law. In 1991 he was promoting a concert at City College of New York featuring Heavy D, the place was overcrowded a stampede ensued nine people died. Puff Daddy was sued in 1997 for landlord neglect by Inge Bongo.
Puff Daddy was arrested for aggravated assault in 1999 and gun charges but he always got off.
Puff Daddy by this time was on his way to the top. Puff Daddy debut single “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” was like his anthem. His debut album “No Way Out” won him a Grammy Award in 1998. Puff Daddy changed his name to P Diddy in 2001 he wanted to change his bad boy image. Now he just goes by Diddy. Diddy has his hands in television; he was on a reality show called Making The Band in 2007. In 2008 he came out with his own reality show I Want to Work for Diddy. Diddy now has a new album Last Train To Paris is in store now. “Hello Good Morning” his single you can hear on Streetwise Radio Big Hop 7-8 pacific standard time.
I can say Diddy is not only a promoter, producer, actor, and fashion designer. Diddy is the true definition of what it means to be an entrepreneur.

Rihanna is the oldest of three siblings, has two younger brothers.
Rihanna’s childhood was rocky, her Father was addicted to crack cocaine her parents marriage ended when she fourteen. Rihanna trained with the military of Barbados, she was in the army cadet sub-military program.
Rihanna and two other classmates of hers formed a singing group, they were introduced to Evan Rogers while he was vacationing in Barbados with his wife. The group audition for him, Rogers said “the minute Rihanna walked into the room, it was like the other two girls didn’t exist.”
Rihanna’s demo album took a year because she continued to go to school, she only recorded during summer and Christmas break. I say good for her.
Rihanna’s demo some how was heard by Jay-Z the president of Def Jam records at the time, he signed her admittedly. Rihanna’s first two album Music of the Sun and A Girl Like Me, considered in the reggae genre.
Rihanna’s look when she was produced by Jay-Z , look like a Beyonce` clone. Rihanna’s style changed dramatically with the Good Girl Gone Bad album, some of the video’s to the songs on this album are out there. I guess you don’t have to know how to sing if your selling sex.
Rihanna’s Domestic violence episode in 2009, brought about STOParazzi to propose a law called “Rihanna’s Law” It would stop law enforcement from releasing crime victims photos to the media. Rihanna is not just a entertainer she is also a philanthropist, she has a foundation call Believe it helps terminally ill children. Rihanna is also involved in the marketing of her country of Barbados and she is the official face a tourism. When I was in Barbados in October, my tour guide told me that the highway we’re on is going to be change to the Rihanna Highway. He said “Rihanna has done a lot for Barbados, she deserve it.” I don’t particularly care for a lot of her sound or music, but some of it is catchy like “Rude Boy”, “Take A Bow” and “Pon de Replay”.

 Last month, Gangstagrass members Rench and T.O.N.E-z attended the Creative Arts Emmys for their nomination in the Best Original Song for a Television Show Category. The song, “Long Hard Times to Come” was written as the theme for the show Justified on FX. The song captured the public’s attention immediately, with fans from across the world trying to find the track and its creators. While the theme for Showtime’s Nurse Jackie took home the win, this marked a historic moment for both the Emmys and the Hip Hop/Rap music genre with T.O.N.E-z getting the nod as the first rapper ever nominated in this category. Now, T.O.N.E-z is set to launch his solo career in a way he has never done before. T.O.N.E-z While gaining mainstream attention as the co-writer of the Emmy Award nominated song, T.O.N.E-z, formerly “Style,” was an established musician before his work with Gangstagrass. In the early 90's, he was signed with Select Records, which produced such artists as Chubb Rock, and his first release was entitled “In Tone We Trust.” T.O.N.E-z went on to sell thousands of mixtapes, and starred alongside Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks in “Philadelphia.” His brothers are Special K, formerly of the Treacherous Three, and T La Rock. Now he can add the Emmy nomination to his impressive list of accomplishments. With an EP on the way next month and a full CD to follow within the next few months, T.O.N.E-z is set to expand his career from the underground and into the limelight. This move inspired the titles of his releases, the first one being “The Lime Light: The Warm Up EP” and the second being “The Lime Light”. While both discs have will hit the masses via International distribution, T.O.N.E-z stays true to his roots with songs that convey rhythmic power and lyrical depth. Lightning On the Strings, Thunder On the Mic” is the second Gangstagrass album. Available now through most online retailers, it features T.O.N.E-z on the majority of the tracks. Both Hip Hop and Bluegrass fans have taken to this seemingly impossible musical combination.
