Welcome back to Streetwise Radio! Holiday season is here again. Time to get together with friends and fam and turn up a lil bit.For those of you who listen to the station you may have heard of the trio of dj/producers called YELLOW CLAW.The group consitsts of Bizzey,Jim Aasgier,and Nizzle.The amsterdam based group is blazing a trail on the trap music scene with hit singles like “love me till it hurts” and “shotgun” using high paced beats and melodic vocals. Yellow claw burst onto the scene in 2010 after hosting and founding The Yellow Claw Thursday nite party at a popular club in Amsterdam. By 2012 they had a few hit singles and became regulars at many dutch festivals ( dirty dutch festival, solarfest). The group successfully blend a multitude of genres onto one track like the track “thunder” which is a masterful blend. After bouncing around a few labels Yellow Claw has chosen the independentroute and is on tour now in Europe. What's amazing to me about the trap music movement is the collaborative nature of it which reminds me of the beginning of hip hop. The beauty of collectivism at its best. Yellow Claw has that upbeat can't stop partying feel that will be sure to keep you up and going all nite. I couldn't imagine being at one of their shows because i would need a change of clothes from the danceathon that would ensue. Rihanna’s Man Down Video Under Attack

Rihanna is in the news again with her controversial video Man Down. The beginning of the video has Rihanna shooting an unarmed man in cold blood.
It does not show you why until the end. Rihanna twittered “Young girl/women all over the world…we are a lot of things! We’re strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable and sometime our innocence can cause us to be naïve! We always think it could Never be us, but in reality, it can happen to Any of us! So ladies be careful.” I strongly agree with Rihanna’s twitter message. As for her video I agree. I have always said if I am sexually assaulted, that person better kill me because I would hunt them down and end their life. I know it is wrong to take a life, but I can’t image that person only getting a short amount of time for what they have done. To walk the streets so they can do it again to someone else is not right. Like the Jaycee Dugard, she was abducted at the age of ten and held for eighteen years. Jaycee’s life was stolen from her. Phillip Craig Garrido was sentenced to 431 years to life. I don’t think that’s good enough, I hope in prison he is rapped every day of his 431 years. Garrido was a serial rapist he should not have been out on parole in 1976. Nancy Garrido got 36 years, that’s not enough either I hope her 36 years a pure hell. Anyone one that sexually assaults another person needs to be put down.

Lupe Fiasco

Born on February 16, 1982 as Wasalu Muhammad Jaco better known as Lupe Fiasco, is a rapper, artist, producer and CEO Lupe Fiasco grew up on the Westside of Chicago. Lupe was one of nine children. His mother was a gourmet chef and his father was a Black Panther a prolific African drummer, karate teacher, engineer and owner of a karate schools and army surplus stores. When Lupe was five his parents divorced, but his father remained a significant part of his life. His father taught him to use an
AK-47 and other guns so he could protect himself from drug dealers that lived next door and in the neighborhood. Lupe and his siblings were well educated as children. They were only allowed watched public television read National Geographic magazines and encyclopedias. Lupe did not like hip hop when he was growing up because all the negative lyrics. When he heard Nas’ 1996 album, “It Was Written” he decided he was going to rap.
His group called Da Pak first song out was about drugs guns and women.
Lupe didn‘t like the direction he was going so he left the group and went solo.  Jay-Z and Nas lyricism had a profound affect on Lupe Fiasco style a rap, rap with a message. Lupe Fiasco song “Words I Never Said“, “The Show Goes On“, “Kick, Push.”, and Daydreamin” are my favorites songs. Lupe Fiasco is not only a rapper he is a entrepreneur he founded “Righteous Kung-Fu” a fashion design , sneaker, toys, video games, comic books, graphics for album covers and skateboards decks company. I like Lupe Fiasco because he is a young rapper that raps about social things that are going on in this world. Lupe Fiasco is now playing on Streetwise Radio.

Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty February 20, 1988. in Saint Michaels Barbados.
Rihanna is the oldest of three siblings, has two younger brothers.
Rihanna’s childhood was rocky, her Father was addicted to crack cocaine her parents marriage ended when she fourteen. Rihanna trained with the military of Barbados, she was in the army cadet sub-military program.
Rihanna and two other classmates of hers formed a singing group, they were introduced to Evan Rogers while he was vacationing in Barbados with his wife. The group audition for him, Rogers said “the minute Rihanna walked into the room, it was like the other two girls didn’t exist.”


Rihanna’s demo album took a year because she continued to go to school, she only recorded during summer and Christmas break. I say good for her.
Rihanna’s demo some how was heard by Jay-Z the president of Def Jam records at the time, he signed her admittedly. Rihanna’s first two album Music of the Sun and A Girl Like Me, considered in the reggae genre.
Rihanna’s look when she was produced by Jay-Z , look like a Beyonce` clone.  Rihanna’s style changed dramatically with the Good Girl Gone Bad album, some of the video’s to the songs on this album are out there. I guess you don’t have to know how to sing if your selling sex.


Rihanna’s Domestic violence episode in 2009, brought about STOParazzi to propose a law called “Rihanna’s Law” It would stop law enforcement from releasing crime victims photos to the media. Rihanna is not just a entertainer she is also a philanthropist, she has a foundation call Believe it helps terminally ill children. Rihanna is also involved in the marketing of her country of Barbados and she is the official face a tourism. When I was in Barbados in October, my tour guide told me that the highway we’re on is going to be change to the Rihanna Highway. He said “Rihanna has done a lot for Barbados, she deserve it.” I don’t particularly care for a lot of her sound or music, but some of it is catchy like “Rude Boy”,  “Take A Bow” and “Pon de Replay”.

Butter Jonez

Butter Jonez is talented singer and songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. A self described “Renaissance Man”, Mr. Jonez crafted his style of Hip Hop soul while growing up listening to his father’s extensive collection of soul 45s & LPs.

Drawing his influences from such groups as The Delfonics, New Birth, and Black Ivory; as well as artists like Bobby Womack, Linda Jones, and Marvin Gaye.

His debut single “Fire”, produced by The Intalec, is a seductive

mixture of strings and warm rhythmic percussion that sets the

mood for Mr. Jonez’ smooth vocal style to relax and soothe the listener, while fellow label mate Doc Giggz follows up with a melodic rhyme flow that compliments Mr. Jonez’ vocals like silk and satin. On the extended Hip Hop Mix Butter brings in fellow label mate Lord Hakim to spit 16 bars on how to “Do The Right Thing with a cup of ice”. “The song is about a night of intimacy with that special someone that’s so intense and so passionate that the
